I love December. I love holidays. I’m the same as everyone in the world and that’s totally OK with me. Since another month has gone by (and I’m sure you’re dying to know), let me catch you up on some of my favorite things recently. Here is what I’ve been doing lately:
Reading: I finally finished Me Before You by JoJo Meyes. I loved that book. I set a goal of 35 books this year and I’m way behind, but I’ve found more time for reading since moving (you know, that whole no family or friends here yet thing) and I’m pretty excited to catch up on some of the books I’ve been wanting to read for a while.
Eating: Different food from different restaurants and it’s been incredible. Our favorites so far have been every dessert place we have tried and the diner by our house. Oh yes, and Christmas Tree Cakes. Each box has five, which means that there is a battle in this household every time we reach the end of the box. It’s dangerous.
Watching: ZERO TV because Verizon is ridiculous and isn’t coming until next week. Yes, one whole month after we move in. We have been catching up on Netflix shows and Christmas movies instead – which I don’t hate. We have mapped out our plan to watch all of our favorite Christmas movies, so I’m pretty pumped up about that too.
Missing: Friends and family. There are so many holiday parties and get togethers that we won’t be home for this year and I will be definitely missing that.
Anticipating: My parents visit in 18 days and I’m soooo excited. I got to see them for a few minutes when I was in Minneapolis last week for work, but I can’t wait to celebrate Christmas in the city with them. I don’t know exactly what we’re going to do yet, but I know it will involve a lot of laughing, exploring, eating and drinking.
Wishing for: the closet fairy to come and find a good spot for the few things we have yet to put away from our move. Also, I’m wishing for one more good shopping day so we are done for the season and can start shipping things back to Minnesota.
Drinking: Nothing new and exciting, just coffee, Abita Purple Haze and a few bottles of New Age wine.
Laughing at: everything musical that comes from Jimmy Fallon. I posted this on the blog’s Facebook page and have watched it multiple times since then.
Loving: Christmas decorations and everything about Christmas. I also love the end cap at Target that has the $5 foam craft kits. It never fails to entertain on girl’s night. Each of my nieces made their own frozen igloo scene. Mackenzy is always so precise and careful to make sure her’s is perfect. The other two girls are a little more abstract with theirs. And that last one, well, the adults made one too – we made the igloo into a hot tub and cut out foam stickers to look like drinks – somehow that’s the only one I was allowed to take home to decorate our apartment with.
Beginning: my serious love affair with New York City and everything around it. I miss a lot of things about home, but I love so many things about being here. Also, I think I’ve know typed that sentence 20 times on this blog. Sorry.
Listening to: Christmas jams. Duh.
Happy Tuesday.
That Fallon video was my favorite. My mom showed it to me the other night and I can't stop watching it! Love Carrie. Glad you're settling in nicely =] Happy Tuesday!

I am envious of your plan to watch all of your favorite Christmas movies. Not having regular TV access has to have a downside but your plan sounds awesome!
There are so many Christmas movies on Netflix! But I need to get a few on DVD so I can watch them year round…specifically Muppet Christmas Carol- it's the best!
I loved loved loved Me Before You. I cried at the end.
So excited your parents are coming for Christmas! Are you doing Tiffany's, Macy's windows, frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity, and Rockefeller Center, etc etc? Or less touristy things?
I love Jimmy Fallon… he's so cute/hilarious!!!! Hahaha! I heard about this video but hadn't seen it until now! 🙂
I would love to pick your brain for some great books. This year I read Beautiful Disaster, a guilty pleasure book that I may have read 3 times. I'm just about done with Life of Pi, really enjoying it. Any suggestions to kick start my 2014 reading list?
As for Christmas music I'm embarrassed (almost) to say that when the house is empty ( I work freelance from home) I play Nsync and Hanson Christmas cd's very VERY loudly. Yes ma'am guilty as charged.
Keep is Sassy & Classy,
B
