2013 = becoming more worldly, gratitude, continuing to remember my veggies and getting the song Call Me Maybe out of my head.
My resolutions for 2013 were simple. I have to keep them simple. Just a few key words. I haven’t narrowed down my 2014 goals yet and I’m giving myself until the end of the week. I feel really good about the last year. The word gratitude means so much more to me now.
Right after Christmas last year, I started to see the “I’m so grateful and lucky” posts disappear from my Facebook feed. Why don’t people express their gratitude all year long? I decided that I was going to and I made a promise to myself that everyday for an entire year, I would post a picture of my #dailygratitude on Instagram (you can see them all on my Instagram account @stephgregerson). Some days, it was hard to find something to take a picture of, but most days, it was easy. Spending a few minutes at the end of each day posting my gratitude became one of the best parts of my daily routine.
The pictures fall into 8 different categories and they are pretty even for numbers. I felt good about that because it means I wasn’t just grateful for wine this year.
My husband comes in at number 1. 17% of all my gratitude posts had something to do with him. Makes sense since he’s my favorite person in the whole world.
Coming in with 15% was my friends. I just love them all. I’m a lucky girl and I miss them all so much. 2014 will hopefully include at least a few awesome weekends with these people.
Obviously family comes in next. Having 4 nieces and now a nephew means special little moments of happiness just fall into your lap. Plus, a trip to Disney World with my little brother and my parents visiting NYC, it was one adventure after another with my family.
The other categories weren’t too far behind the first three. I’m the kind of person that values my time with other people so much, but there are definitely other things that are important to me.
Everyone needs a little time for themselves. My time includes a good book/magazine, a bath, a candle and something to drink. Or Bravo – that always works too.
These two pups are my children. They were so amazing during the move and have adjusted so well to being apartment dogs. They make me laugh daily with their crazy antics. Couldn’t imagine my life without them.
Food & Drink made up quite a few of my photos and I don’t think much explanation is needed. I love trying different kinds of beer, different kinds of food and all things cheese. I wish cupcakes were made with vegetables.
And probably my favorite group of pictures were ones like this. Moments when I was able to stop and enjoy my surroundings and then the snapshots to take me back there. I remember exactly what I was doing when each of those 6 photos were taken.
Now that I’ve spent the whole year capturing moments on my iPhone camera and posting them on Instagram, I find myself looking for a different way to show my gratitude this year. I’ve got a few ideas, but I haven’t finalized my plan yet. Thanks to those of you who played along in 2013.
As for the rest of my resolutions, I have been eating WAY MORE vegetables and loving it. I’m not sure if I’ve become more worldly, but I’ll work on that more this year. As for Call Me Maybe… I was successful… until I read it and now I’m singing it again. I bet you are too.
Boy do we have so much to be grateful for and what a special way to remember it all!

I wouldn't survive without me time. I think we all need it every once in a while.
P.S. I now hate you for putting that song into my head.
