Happy Monday. It is birthday week so I’m a little happier than most Mondays. Also, we’re looking at a four day week and then a four day weekend. We did lots of awesome things this past weekend as well.
Friday night, we had dinner with J’s parents at Granite City and then spent the cool, rainy night drinking hot cocoa and Bailey’s and watching the final 3 hours of The Office on the DVR. I teared up a little bit. I have watched that show since the very first season and even when Michael Scott left, I stuck with it. It was a great cast and I’m happy that it ended the way it did, but I will miss that show. If you’re looking for something to replace it with and you haven’t seen Parks & Rec yet, I recommend that one… like now.
Saturday, Justin had a massage (a birthday present from the great Rick & Leah) and I went for a run. It was so humid and I think I lost 2 pounds just from sweating. Yikes. After that, we went to a 3 year old’s birthday party at a park called “Chutes & Ladders” which was my favorite field trip as a kid. I hung out with my nieces and went down a few slides that were not meant for adults.
Saturday evening, we went to the Twins vs. Red Sox game with my mom, her friend, my brother and his girlfriend. The weather could not have been better. I ate mini donuts and cheese curds and felt like a million dollars.
Sunday morning, we went and saw the Great Gatsby. I don’t know why so many people are saying they didn’t like it. I LOVED it. I love that book and I think the movie was done beautifully. Baz Luhrmann’s style is different and creative. Leo is amazing at pretty much anything he does.
We saw it in 3D because that was the time that worked the best for us. Even though we paid an extra $8.00, it was pretty cool in 3D. The effects were subtle, but I liked it.
Sunday afternoon, we went bowling with some friends while it stormed outside. Clearly I won (if you’re playing it like golf). I finished the night off with some quality dog time and last year’s Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion. Has anyone seen the commercial where they plant the tree?
Linking up with Sami for Weekend Shenanigans.
woohoo for birthday weeks and short work weeks! 🙂
Bring on RHONJ!!!! YAY!!! It's so humid here too – it just makes you feel sweaty and sticky…ick!
Glad you liked the movie, I haven't heard too many reviews about it yet…now I need to go see it! I love Leo, too, I watched Django last weekend and I am always amazed at how well he disappears into his character! Can't wait for all the drama on RHONJ!!
The humidity and heat hit here too this weekend, and UGH I hate it! I feel like a sluggish snail, haha!
I loved Gatsby too!!! What a fun weekend!
Yayyy birthday week!! 🙂 Much rock o' clockin' is needed on this holiday week!
I need to do some serious running/sweating and try to shed a few pounds and fit in my b-maid dress for this weekend haha! AND I can't wait to see Gatsby, we 'saved' it for part of our anniversary date this coming weekend, hollaa!!
I also loved Gatsby.
We stuck with The Office all the way through, and I loved the way they wrapped it up.
Happy birthday week!
I missed you this weekend BUT I am very happy for a few things in this post:
1. ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY WEEEEEEEK!!!!!
2. I love your Mom – I am officially obsessed. You can tell her that.
3. Brady and I are going to the Great Gatsby sometime this week so I am looking forward to it and glad you liked it 🙂
That is all. Love you.
Happy birthday week!
Everyone's all like…we love Gatsby. And I'm over here like…I couldn't even finish the book. Hanging my head in shame.
I still need to see Gatsby. I don't really understand the point of 3D movies that aren't action or animated in some way though haha
I still haven't seen Gatsby, I probably won't even get to until it comes out on Netflix. But I like that everyone is giving it good reviews! I love Leo.
I'll be seeing the Great Gatsby in a few weeks, so I'm pretty excited about that. I love baseball (and the Red Sox), so I'm a bit envious that you got to go a game.
