We are getting ready to plan our summer road trip. We were originally planning a trip to Iceland for our 5 year anniversary, but we had quite a few things come up for the summer and possible work travel, so we are going to put that on the back burner for now and stay in the good old United States for our vacation.
Road trips are one of our favorite things to do together. We have driven through at least 23 states over the 8 years we’ve been together (see purple highlights on the map). There is nothing better than new territory to explore, the best karaoke stage in the world and your favorite person sitting next to you. I can’t wait to head south this year and explore some new places.
The blue highlighted circle is the area we plan to go this time. My mother in law’s family lives in Arkansas, so we plan on visiting them for sure. Catching a baseball game or two would be pretty awesome as well. Other than that, we have no plans, so any suggestions or places not to miss would be awesome.
In the meantime, I’ll share with you some of our favorite songs for the car: Roadtrippin Music
Can’t wait to mess with Texas.
Also, I should mention that today at 5:00 PM, our governor will sign the bill on the steps of the capitol to make Minnesota the 12th state that has marriage equality. I had tears in my eyes on my run last night watching people celebrate. More on that tomorrow when it’s officially happened.
Make sure to go to Austin! San Antonio is great, too. And then New Orleans. There's so many fun cities in that area!
I live in Dallas…just sayin!!
Jealous of all your road trips, that's on my bucket list!!
TX is a big place and the bigger cities are about 4-5 hours away from each other, so you might do better to pick 1 or 2 (just depending on how long your trip is). Austin and San Antonio are good for first timer visitors, but they don't have ballparks like Houston and Dallas. Can't go wrong with any of them, though! Have FUN!
Road trips are the best! Excited to hear about this one 🙂
What part of Arkansas? And when will you be there? Jared's fam just moved there and we're planning on visiting sometime this summer also.
I love Texas! You're going to have a blast!
We keep talking about doing a big road trip but it hasn't really happened. Once we had this very elaborate trip idea which would revolve around baseball season so we could see as many baseball parks as possible in one trip. I might have to bring that up again!
I am jealous! I really want to do a road trip and do out west and the deep south…those are the two areas I really have not spent much time, and I have a few more states to cross off my list!
this route looks AMAZING! so jealous- this is on my bucket list. love your blog! XO
