I grew up in a hockey family. I went to college at the University of MN – Duluth where we were a hockey school. I married into a football family and I couldn’t be happier. We met over baseball in case you missed it, but spending time with Justin’s family, it was clear that I would become a football fan.
I just joined forces with my husband and started routing for the Vikings. So what if they’ve had some scandals in their past. Sex boats, Brett Favre, deflating stadiums, 4 Super Bowls (no wins…YET) – I can look past all of that.

AP – that’s my guy. I proudly wear that jersey one day a week for the entire football season. We bought our dog a Helga helmet. We have a brand new stadium coming in a few years. I’ve learned how to make a mean vegetarian chili in the crockpot. Vikings vs. Packers weekend means not speaking to any of our Wisconsin friends. I’ve got this down. My next move? fantasy football. Watch out.
What do we do on Saturdays in the fall? Clearly, we cheer for the Hawkeyes. No, I didn’t go to school in Iowa, but J’s whole family is there and it has been his college team forever.
Justin’s cousins are all die hard Hawkeye fans and it’s so much fun going down there to visit in the fall. Also, we get to see them this weekend and I can’t wait. Spending so much time with nieces is fun, but it’s also a blast to hang out with the boys.
All that being said, I’m ready to enjoy the last few weeks of summer before madness begins. Happy Friday!
P.S. I’m dedicating this to Carlos Danger… you dummy.

I'm a hockey girl all the way. I could never get into football.
I used to sport a Chester Taylor jersey when I dated my ex (just because his initials are the same as mine, ha!). Glad to hear they finally approved a new stadium for y'all…the ol Metrodome was WAY past it's prime! Have a great weekend girlie!!
Ok, but who is the dude in the Miami shirt? What gives there?? I like the packers, I just like Aaron Rodgers actually, but for you, I'll root for the Vikings this year when they play each other
I am so excited for football season!! That is the only thing about summer ending that I am ok with!!
Every single post is getting me more and more hyped for the season!! AP is a beast! I'm a fan of his! Except on Dec 22nd when he comes to Cincinnati 😉
Football is under way – there is excitement in our house too! (sorry, cheer for the Bears here…)
AP is the man!!!!!
I'm playin fantasy football this year!
Girl you are surrounded by sports… love it! Aren't you sooo ready for football season?! I love the summer and baseball season but the thought of a lazy weekend spent on the couch sounds like heaven right about now!! Thanks so much for joining the linkup!
I love hockey!
No cares for NFL football. I watch college football every Saturday but don't root for anyone in particular.
I was born into an ice hockey family and married into an ice hockey family (steve plays!) Lucky for us, we are both Flyers fans, and our families are Philadelphia fans for all sports.
I do love me my Sundays in the fall for football, beer and wings. The important things in life. I'm an Eagles fan, although Im not particularly pleased with them the last few years! We've had our fair share of scandal!
Adrian Peterson is simply superhuman. I can get on board with the Vikings but not so much the Hawkeyes. But that's OK – it's all fun.
I think I spit out my water at the Carlos Danger shout out.
My hubby was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He traveled to Duluth all the time from TBay! You were a hockey fan.. not anymore? I am still.. Edmonton Oilers fan- grew up few hours from Edmonton. Hubby's a Leaf's fan. We have never been big into football. But I watched Silver Lining's Playbook.. and can see how intense football fans can be.. Have you seen the movie?.. is your hubby's family like that!? Hehe.. I think being a sport's fan of any kind is fun. Puts a little excitement into a weeknight.
You met over baseball.. I'll have to check that post out. I love playing baseball and I can watch it. It's not my fav. to watch but because I play it, I at least "get it". With football I have no idea what the hell is going on half the time. (probably why i don't watch it.)
I am also enjoying the next few weekends before the NFL season starts! I'm so glad that my husband isn't into college football or I wouldn't see him at all on weekends during the fall!
Loved this post!! I'm a hockey girl too, but there's something about football that has me obsessed every year!
I know this isn't the point, but I loved the Miami Dolphins shirt. Representing the Fins!
