As a child, I went through stages of the things I wanted to be when I “grew up.” I went through those phases all the way through the first 3 years of college… oops. I switched majors a few times, but landed on a degree that has nothing to do with my current job, but gives me a decent perspective on the world.
All that boring stuff aside, there are a few dream jobs that I think about now…
- Professional beer/wine taster
- Travel writer of some sorts
- Google doodle brainstormer – I love looking up weird holidays and celebrating them. For example, today is National Custodial Worker Day (but notice that isn’t really on my dream job list.)
- The person that picks the Instagram picture of the day
- Road trip planner
- Walking tour guide for New York City – I would have so much fun making up weird stories about buildings.
- Owner of a candy shop or a food truck
- Novel writer that is instantly famous and can hang out in remote cabins in the mountains with a nice advance for book #2
- Photographer of weird things… where it’s totally normal to use an iPhone
- Blogger – duh
- Food critic’s assistant that sets up the restaurants and eats along with them with no deadlines of my own
- SNL writer (but really I just want to laugh a bunch at a big table with lots of take out and contribute just a little)
- Netflix picker of what they stream next. I will have no problem binge watching the shows to determine what their next big hit will be.
Does that make me sound lazy? A girl can dream, right?
when i was a kid all the way through high school, i wanted to be come a doctor. my full name with the "Dr." prefixed to it even had a nice sound to it. then i did more research and found out 1) how much medical school cost 2) how much schooling was involved 3) how much debt you're in after medical school and all that jazz and then went into IT instead LOL. i didn't feel like being in $200K+ in debt when i got out of school. ain't nobody got time fo dat.

There are so many possibilities now that I never even knew existed then! Back then I just wanted to work at a grocery store, or be a lawyer – either way! haha
These are all fun ideas! Food critic assistant sounds amazing, and yummy!
I want a food truck too! And novel writer, def on my list!
Love all these! Would love to be a blogger, a coffee shop owner, a toy/game tester, own a winery, Ice Capades (loooooved their costumes). When I was little, there was a time when I wanted to be a truck driver. Yup.
An SNL writer would be so much fun! I'm still trying to figure out what my dream career is.
At first when I read this, I thought you wrote that your childhood dream was to be a beer/wine taster. haha.
HAHA I loveeee all of these! Yes to NetFlix picker and I really want to start a food truck too! which would yours be??
Netflix tester and beer/wine tester in one! that would be a great job!
I would LOVE to be a travel writer- seriously be in heaven!
oh I second Kendra, maybe mix in travel writer [or even travel blogger!] to where you're essentially getting paid to only do awesome stuff. let's make that a career..
These are fantastic. Owner of a candy shop? Sign me up.
Every single one of these sounds phenomenal! haha Good luck! When you get in, help us all get fun jobs with you!
