Usually, the first question I ask people about their vacations was their three favorite things. Picking one is usually way too hard, but asking for three allows them to give you a little slice of their trip. Justin and I had that conversation about Iceland on the plane ride home and I was able to easily come up with my 3 favorite things.
1. The People. Every single person we encountered, except one airport worker, was extremely wonderful, friendly and helpful. The service we had was incredible. The Icelandic language is so cool and people were very gracious to help Justin learn how to pronounce Eyjafjallajökull (the volcano that erupted a few years ago.) He’s got it 98% correct now.
2. The Water. The blue green clear water was so beautiful. Each time we caught a glimpse of the coast, it was a new breathtaking view. Then you add the waterfalls and the geothermal baths and the water here can’t be beat.
3. The Colors. They call Reykjavik the rainbow town because of all the different colored houses and it is so fun and happy. The art around every corner has bright colors that help cheer up the long dark winter days. When you add this with the scenery of moss, volcanic rock and that beautiful water, it is obvious that this is one of the greatest things about Iceland.
Justin’s answers were the same as mine, but instead of the colors, he pointed out the variety in landscape. In one day, we drove from the city, to glaciers, to waterfalls, to farm lands to the ocean.
I’ll be breaking down our trip over the the next few weeks as we sort out our photos, but I can safely say that this is the best vacation we’ve been on and I can’t wait for our next adventure.
I seriously cannot wait to read these posts and see these pictures. So amazing.
I can't wait to hear your recaps. The company I work for shoots in Iceland pretty much every year for our winter catalog and they are there right now. I get to send the product there but unfortunately, don't get to tag along.
Ever since I saw the Might Ducks 2 I wanted to visit Iceland! It looks beautiful and wonderful!
That picture of Reykjavik with the blue water behind?!?!? That picture is everything. So beautiful! Can't wait to read your posts.
I'm so glad you had a great trip! Iceland looks gorgeous and I would absolutely love to visit one day. All of the colors of Reykjavik make me so happy!
These pictures make my heart happy. They look like postcards!
I'd like to thank you for giving me a new desire to go to Iceland. That was never even a blip on my radar prior to your trip!
I've loved all of your photos. Can't wait to see more. Our friends went and I saw their pics at the beginning of April and was struck by all the colors and the water in a pic similar to your third one.
Water is typically my favorite if there is an element of water.
Iceland is definitely on my list!
I love the colors of the roofs. They're so bright and different compared to the usually black, grey, tan we're used to here. Iceland wasn't never a go-to for me until I started blogging and now it's probably in the top 5.
This post just had me smiling, so happy to hear you had a great time in Iceland!
