Vacation time has arrived and it couldn’t come soon enough. We had dreamed of a weeklong trip to Switzerland or a quick escape to a beach island, but after moving and a few crazy months of work insanity, we are hitting the road for a god old fashioned road trip to North Carolina. We are going to take in some fall colors, catch up with some friends in Charlotte and enjoy a few nights on a lake in the Smoky Mountains.
Here’s a quick run through of some other things I’m up to. Currently, I’m…
Watching Big Bang Theory. I wish that show was on Netflix so I could binge the crap out of it. But instead, I have to wait until I’m in a hotel room.
Smelling the best soap ever. Kimpton hotels have the best toiletries. It’s the only ones I always take from the hotel.
Excited for next Tuesday. It’s Election Day and I can’t wait for the commercials and constant news stories to die down a little bit. The length of time we have to put up with this is exhausting.
Dreaming about those trips I mentioned earlier in the post. I would love to see the Swiss Alps. I need to work on that as soon as possible.
Shopping for Christmas gifts. Trying to get a little bit of a jump on the holidays… at least the part that costs a bunch of money.
Thankful for a few days off with J and the pups to be outside. It looks like we got pretty lucky on the fall color timing. Follow along on Instagram to see the pics @insertclassyhere
Reading A Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes. It’s exactly what I wanted it to be. I’m still behind on my reading goals, but hoping to catch up a little bit on this trip.
Working on knitting a blanket. I learned to knit in college (which I laugh just reading back now) and used to make scarves and blankets, but I haven’t picked up needles in a long time. It’s kind of nice doing that while watching TV.
Listening to the new Head and the Heart album. After we saw them in concert, I haven’t been able to get enough of their new stuff.
I’m off to finish prepping for our day of driving tomorrow. Let me know if you have any recommendations on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville or Charlotte. Happy November.
I hope you have a wonderful Vacation. I haven't read "A year of yes" but it's on my reading list. Knitting sounds fun.
Enjoy those fall colors! This sounds like the perfect fall vacation!
I've wanted to visit Asheville for awhile now, the hiking looks stunning. Have fun and take lots of pictures!
novemvber marks the end of shopping freeze for me as i start to shop for christmas as well.
OH man. Asheville is so gorgeous, and they have the BEST BREWERIES. You must go to Sierra Nevada. Must. And eat at White Duck Taco. Charlotte is pretty damn cool too…
Make sure to have breakfast at the Flying Biscuit Cafe and visit Red Clay Ciderworks when in Charlotte! If you take 29 to the Blue Ridge Mountains, stop at the Ole Country Store in Culpeper, Virginia – YUM.
My MIL has Kimpton gift certificates that she's going to let my husband and I use. I've never stayed in one before! Definitely going to have to steal those toiletries.
I was invited to a private (but massive) FB group for HRC supporters and it has been saving my sanity over the past couple of weeks, because everyone is supporting the same candidate so there is no trolling or arguing. So I've been avoiding all politics except in that group. Still ready (but nervous) for Tuesday though.
Yay for fall colors! Have the best time ever!
How are you like "A Year of Yes?" My book club is reading it this month!
I'm also hoping for a getaway this winter! We're hoping to head to Germany for the Christmas markets!
ooh i've always wanted to be able to knit. maybe one day. i loved a year of yes, so good!
i would absolutely love to go to Switzerland. When i first read 'we had dreamed of a weeklong trip to Switzerland' i got SUPER excited to live vicariously through you, haha but have fun in North Carolina and one day Switzerland, and i will live vicariously through you then haha. i am very ready for all the commercials etc to be over.
