Today is the day. All of the SNL skits, debate shenanigans, primary craziness. It’s all coming to an end or at least changing to a different kind of crazy. We were up before the sun this morning so we could get to the polls before diving into our work.
I wanted to share some pictures from our early morning walk around Washington DC because it was a perfectly timed visit for us. We’ve spent the last few months listening to the Presidential podcast that reviews each of our 44 presidents and gives you a little more information on what kind of leader they were. Walking through the FDR Memorial, seeing the Washington Monument in the reflecting pool and even Thomas Jefferson’s statue in the early morning sunlight – it helped remind me of all the things this country has been through in it’s history.
Today you have a chance to impact where we go next. There is no excuse. You can’t say your vote doesn’t matter. We have more battleground states this year than ever. The absentee and early voting numbers are off the charts. There are so many senate seats up for grabs. D.C. is on the ballot to possibly become the 51st state. Your vote matters.
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”
-President Barack Obama
Happy Election day friends. Pray for NYC tonight. It’s going to be completely insane. I think we are planning on watching everything from our living room, but you never know 🙂
The city really is best in the early hours– you got some great shots! It's crazy (in a good way) to see how many people were early voting compared to the last election!
I'm wearing my Nasty Woman shirt to work hidden under a poncho today. I am SO nervous. I'm going to be a wreck tonight when results start rolling in.
i might have to check out that podcast, as i know nothing about the presidents (well, tidbits from KC). you make me want to go back to DC!
Great pics.
We will rise.
