If you missed it on my Instagram, Justin and I ran away to LA and the California Coast this weekend. We covered a lot of ground in the 4 days we were there and I’m working on actually getting photos on the blog, but I love writing these quick recaps right away. I’ll link older ones below, but here is a quick breakdown of our trip.

I tasted…

Fish tacos. I can’t get enough of them. We also did a wine tasting in Ojai and loved a new white wine called Roussanne. We drank a few ice cold Pacificos that were better than usual because of the heat wave. Also, I ate quite a few veggie sandwiches. SoCal is a super veg friendly place and that meant I had options. Also, s’mores around the campfire.

I heard…

Waves and seagulls while down by the beach. Peace and quiet in the mountains. Clinking of glasses and sports cars in LA. Justin laughing and reminiscing about his Orange County days with one of his oldest friends over dinner.

I saw…

So much sunshine and bare skin. There was beautiful scenery and palm trees everywhere. The vegetation was so different from what we have in the midwest or the east coast. The coastal desert colors are dreamy. Mountains and oceans in one frame is the dream.

I felt…

Salt water. So much sweat thanks to the heat wave that hit on Saturday. The AC that was the best welcome in our AirBnB and every store/restaurant we walked into. Hair blowing while cruising up the coast and through the mountains with all windows down. And my favorite was the ocean mist from the Marine Layer on Tuesday morning.

I smelled…

The tar from the La Brea tar pits. Salty ocean air. So much sunscreen. Wine in Ojai at our tasting. New coffee places. People cooking on campfires. So many amazing smells at the Farmer’s Market.

It was the best escape even with the heat wave. Back to reality now. If you like this format, I’ve done them before for the Florida Keys, Costa Rica, the Blue Ridge Mountains and Europe.
