Summer is winding down. This time of year is my favorite to be an adult. Summer doesn’t have to end at Labor Day when the kids go back to school. The last few weeks of the real calendar summer have become my favorites. This year, we scheduled our anniversary trip for the second week in September to play outside with way less people around. Here is what else is happening currently.

Reading a giant stack of library books. Everything I’ve wanted came in the last month from the hold list. It’s just how it goes. It’s made me a little pickier on what I read, but it’s still hard to keep up.

Watching The Good Place. I love this cast so much and just can’t get enough of them. I hadn’t heard of the show until it popped up on my Netflix recommendations this Spring, but we’ve binged the whole first season and finally dove into season 2 this weekend.

Happy that my nephew has arrived. My brother and sister-in-law had a little boy over Labor Day weekend and I got to visit him in the hospital. It’s the first baby in my family (all the other awesome kids are on Justin’s side.) I already can’t wait to snuggle him again.

Pumped about election season. We hung out at the DFL stand at the Minnesota State Fair for a while and got to meet Peggy Flanagan who is fighting to be our next Lieutenant Governor. She’s awesome and was just a pleasure to talk to.

Located in Indianapolis. The work travel has picked up a little more now and I’ve been on the road more often. Indy is not a bad place to be. It’s a good midwestern town with breweries and a really nice downtown. It’s not bad to get out and walk around and just take in new spots. I do like it way more when J & I can travel together (obviously.)

Sad that the days are getting noticeably shorter. I know that means that the leaves will fall soon and the snow will come. It feels like summer has just begun and it’s already over. I swear long nights make winter feel longer.

Eating Cauliflower. I love the freezer bags with the ranch seasoning. I know it’s better if everything is fresh, but these make my nightly veggies so easy. I might have bought a bag for each night that I’m in town. The food is why I try and stay somewhere with a kitchen.

Celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. It was last week, but with visitors and work travel and Labor Day weekend craziness, we planned a little vacation for next week after things quiet down everywhere. I’m so excited to be in the woods where cell phones don’t work and we can just find the balance between relaxing and adventuring.

Tell me what you’re up to. Do you consider summer over now or do you soak in the last few weeks that it’s on the calendar?
