It is November. That means ALMOST TIME TO VOTE. Also, it’s a month of no travel for us which is a change of pace. I’m using this as a month to organize, reset and reconnect.
Reading nothing. I finished this spooky book for book club a few days early and I just haven’t sat down to dive back into anything yet. I’ve got a stack of books I own that I want to get started on, plus a few holds from the library that will be in this week. I just haven’t dove in yet.
Eating all things healthy. We ate lots of amazing food during our 10 day travels. The highlights included deep dish pizza in Chicago covered in peppers and onions, the best Cauliflower “wings” in Indy and some old favorites in New York City (as well as a new Tapas place.) After all the fun food, I’m determined to get back into a better routine full of veggies, fruits and healthy snacks.
Fired up about the elections. It’s less than one week away. This weekend is your chance to make sure to talk about the importance of voting with everyone you come in contact with. Help your relatives get to the early voting polls. Make phone calls or door knock for your local candidates. Don’t know who your candidates are? Great news! You’re already on the internet reading this so click here immediately and make a plan.
Smelling fall candles. I don’t think there’s a better time of year for scented candles. For the first time ever, I’m burning the last candle in our house which means I get to pick up one or two more and I’m pumped.
Wondering about the future of this blog. I find it harder and harder to come to this space. I’m so behind on the things that I’ve wanted to share. I love it so much and I’ve had it for so long, but the community is so different and that was such a big part of it. I miss the connections, but at the same time, I feel like it’s so hard to keep up with the connections to everyone recently. Hopefully it’s just a funk. My goal is to write more this month because I love it. I just don’t know where I’ll be writing.
Excited for the season of hygge. I know it’s an all year thing, but it feels so much better in the colder months. Spring cleaning is all about freshening things up and getting ready to open the windows up and let the sun shine in. Autumn is a time to clean everything up and then hunker down for the winter. Better lighting, more candles, twinkling lights, fuzzy blankets and surrounding yourself with all the things that make you happy and comfortable in life.
Watching Making a Murderer Part 2. We are 4 episodes in. I didn’t think I would still find it as interesting because I thought it would be more of the same, but it’s definitely different and new information and I’m still fascinated. That said, I do feel bad for the victim’s family because this documentary keeps everything so fresh for them.
Feeling energized after a little time in some big cities the last few weeks. There’s something about being completely surrounded by humanity that I find energizing. It makes me feel small, but also so connected.
That’s all I have for today. Make sure every conversation you have in the next five days includes a reminder to vote. Every single vote matters in the midterms so make it happen friends.
