Food has been consumed, leftovers are stocked in the fridge and White Christmas is now on my TV. We put up our lights this AM while prepping crockpot stuffing and got out the Christmas decor (very minimal in our house.) Now it’s time to enjoy a few minutes of quiet to write my annual “thank you notes.”
Thank you Kacey Musgraves for your existence as a human. You have my favorite Christmas album ever and we listened to it this AM while putting up the lights in our house. I’m so glad we own it and it will probably be on repeat for the next month.
Thank you twinkling lights for making these short days and long nights more bearable. We purposely keep our decor really simple so that it becomes more like winter decor instead of just the Christmas holiday. Greenery and white twinkling lights. Straight hygge once we add in the fuzzy blankets and candles.
Thank you Family for constantly telling new stories. We spend Thanksgiving with my dad and his siblings. It’s so fun hearing new stories about my Grandma and Grandpa. We are so lucky to have so many amazing family members, but we don’t get to see them all often. We have to split up holidays, but I think we’ve figured out a way to see as many people during the holiday season as possible. It’s not perfect, but we make the best of it.
Thank you sweatpants for always being kind. Not just on Thanksgiving, but anytime I need you in my life. I just need a break from the judgment of restricting waist lines sometimes, especially every day the last year and I really appreciate the comforting feeling of sweats.
Thank you Democracy for bringing forward some amazing female politicians with this election. It may not have been the blue wave that floated Beto, Andrew Gillum and Stacey Abrams to the winning circle, but I’m so excited about how many new faces are in Washington DC and in our local governments.
Thank you Black Friday for being a day that I go to work and get caught up. There are leftovers in my lunch box, a quiet office, good donuts for everyone that shows up and the phone doesn’t ring. I’m a huge fan of long weekends, but I have no problem working on Black Friday because I get so much done. Plus, we work next to one of the least busy Target stores in the Twin Cities area and I like to walk around there at lunch time just to check out the sales.
Thank you kiddos in our life. You give us something so tangible to fight for. You provide so much extra fun for us – I mean, we are heading to Disney in a few short weeks. But you also provide us with the drive and motivation to continue to speak up and fight for your future.
Thank you fate for the girlfriends I have in my life. It was all timing and placement that these women became part of my life. I’m just in awe of these women every day. It’s an honor to get to learn about their dreams, hang out with their minis, share all the laughs and just have a spot in their circle. There are so many text conversations in my phone that could lift me up in seconds and I will never be able to express my gratitude enough.
Thank you Husband for 10 years of being grateful that I found you so early in life. As cheesy as it sounds, I’m just so damn happy and I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years of marriage brings because life is good with you.
Lastly…
Thank you baggy sweaters because that’s all I’m wearing the rest of the year and no one can stop me.
Hope you had the most wonderful Thanksgiving. Make sure to give gratitude all year long because it’s one of the best ways to love. And this quote from Tiny Buddha, because who doesn’t love that.
