We have made it to the last month of the year. Winter is beginning, but even in the darkest of days, the lights are lit up all over our neighborhood. People are out and about going to parties and running errands. It’s the month before hibernation, so I understand why people call it the most wonderful time of the year. It might not be my favorite, but I do enjoy it a lot.

Currently, I’m…

Reading 2 different books right now. My mother-in-law got me this book for my birthday and I’m flying through it. I’m not sure how it will end yet, but it is a perfect compliment to a non-fiction. The other book is this George Packer book about the “new America” and it came up on a list of books to read to understand the changing political environment. It’s interesting to follow the few people that the author chose, but I don’t know that it paints a big enough picture.

Watching Ozark. We just finished the first season and we are giving ourselves a couple of days before jumping into season 2. We also started watching Ballers on HBO as our not intense show and it’s pretty good.

Excited for vacation next week. We are taking a giant family trip for our first time and it will be super fun to have some time with the nieces and nephew in the happiest place on earth. It will be nice to get some warm weather and some Disney magic.

Shopping for new shoes. I need a good pair of sneakers that I can wear often. I have worn out my Toms and my Merrills and I want one pair to replace those two. I’m thinking maybe something like these or maybe I just order another pair of these because they are on sale. I have gotten better about only buying shoes that are super comfortable and made with some responsibility so I’m not wasting money, so I probably spend too much time thinking it over.

Feeling overly emotional about anything with animals. I find myself having to skip over any heartwarming animal stories because I just start crying immediately. I think those wounds from losing our dogs are still very much open.

Listening to Bastille. We saw them live last Wednesday and it made my love for them grow. I love hearing stories about bands that are super humble and sincere and I think this band might take the prize in this category. They put on an amazing show and I would definitely see them again. We also can’t get enough of our Kacey Musgraves Christmas Album and we are trying to figure out what other Christmas album we should get so we have some variety.

Missing New York City Christmas. We went back for fall this year and I’m happy about that decision, but I will miss the magic of NYC in December. It should really be on everyone’s bucket list.

Reflecting on the year. It’s been a challenging year for us with the loss of the pups and work craziness. Our travel schedules for work have been quieter than we thought, so we’ve snuck in some trips of our own. We are still struggling managing a healthy routine. We seem to do better when it’s constantly changing and we manage our timelines. It’s definitely something we are still working on, but who can really track all the things we are supposed to accomplish every day.

Catching up on videos and photos from the last two years. Work has been crazy and the last thing I feel like doing at the end of the day is getting on my computer, but I’ve been chipping away at the memories stored up and I’m making some progress. Here is the video from our Europe trip.

Here is the first recap of that trip if you missed it. Or you can click here to see all the posts from that trip. It was so wonderful going backwards and looking through the video clips. I can’t wait for our next European adventure.

What is new with you? Any Christmas albums you recommend? Shoes that you wear and love? I’m looking for all the recommendations I can get.
