When I was younger in MN, winter meant endless hockey tournaments and crossing our fingers for snow days.
When I had a job and controlled my own schedule, I would start dreaming about a trip somewhere warm in February to chase that epic tan that would never happen because I’m more than 50% Scandinavian (but I was sure I just had not tried hard enough.) But, it cost money and we didn’t really have much of that.
When I hit my mid-twenties, I realized that we could go afford on a trip once a year to somewhere warm, but maybe it would be more fun to go on epic ski trips with my friends.
Now that I live back in Minnesota, I’m a giant wuss. It’s the beginning of December and I already feel like I’m frozen. We are supposed to get into the single digits this weekend and I’m just not prepared.

Any beach on the Mediterranean
Islands in the Indian Ocean
Zanzibar
The Canary Islands
Bocas del Toro, Panama
Adriatic Coast pretty much anywhere
I’m sure this list could go on and on, but these are just the ones I’m currently dreaming about.
On the books…
Todos Santos, Mexico – I am finally making a trip south of the border. I have never been to Mexico and I’m so excited to experience a new country and escape the cold weather of January.
New Mexico – I don’t know if this counts as a warm weather trip because we are skiing in Taos, but I’m hoping that the other places we visit are at least above freezing so we can enjoy a little break in early March as well.
